Architects are indispensible
on major remodels and new construction. Their expertise and level
of involvement can be vastly different amoung different architects.
Some will design the structure, interior furnishings like cabinets,
lighting, wall finishes and colors. Others will be involved in the
basic structure and will have interior decorators or acoustical
consultants be responsible for their specialty.
Noise from a home theater is unique in that there is more low frequency
content. Residential architect may have construction techniques
that are just fine for most of the home. Home theaters
require more specific remedies.
I work with your architect to assure the rooms that need to be quiet
stay quiet, the noisy room, like a home theater, has fresh air that
won't become another noise path to the rest of the house and the scale
of furnishings, including seating is correctly proportioned and located.
